LC Port Configuration

The DFO-72LC is designed for high-density LC termination.

Standard Configuration

  • 72 × LC adapter positions
  • Front-accessible LC interfaces
  • Numbered/identification area for fiber management
  • Compatible with LC pigtails
  • Suitable for LC patch cords
  • Modular adapter panel design
Optional Duplex Configuration

Where LC duplex adapters are used, the physical connector arrangement can be configured according to the selected adapter panel. A 72-fiber LC ODF can also be implemented using 36 LC duplex adapter ports.

Splice Tray

The ODF incorporates an internal fiber splice-management area designed to accommodate fusion splicing and protect splice points.

Splice Tray Features
  • Modular splice tray design
  • Removable trays for easier installation
  • Fiber routing channels
  • Splice protection sleeve holders
  • Fiber identification
  • Slack-fiber storage
  • Protection against excessive fiber bending
  • Organized transition between incoming cable and pigtails

Typical ODF splice trays are available in 12- and 24-fiber configurations, allowing the overall capacity to be built from multiple trays.

Construction
Component Material / Feature
Main Housing Cold-Rolled Steel
Front Panel Steel
Rack Mounting Brackets Steel
Splice Tray ABS / Engineering Plastic
Adapter Panel Steel
Fiber Management Parts ABS / Engineering Plastic
Finish Electrostatic Powder Coating
Color Black
Corrosion Protection Powder-coated surface

Cold-rolled steel with a powder-coated finish is widely used for rack-mounted ODF housings because it provides mechanical protection and dimensional stability.

Sliding Drawer Design

The DFO-72LC features a pull-out/sliding design that allows technicians to access the internal fiber-management area without removing the entire ODF from the rack.

Advantages
  • Easy fiber installation
  • Easy fusion-splicing access
  • Simplified troubleshooting
  • Convenient patch-cord management
  • Improved maintenance access
  • Reduced installation time
  • Better visibility of splice trays and fiber routing

Sliding ODF designs are commonly used to provide access to the splice and termination area while the enclosure remains rack-mounted.

Cable Management

The DDS DFO-72LC provides organized internal fiber routing to protect optical fibers and maintain a professional installation.

Cable Management Features
  • Rear cable entry
  • Internal fiber routing
  • Slack-fiber storage
  • Strain-relief provisions
  • Splice-tray routing
  • Pigtail management
  • Patch-cord access from the front
  • Fiber bend-radius control
  • Cable fixing points

Maintaining appropriate fiber bend radius is important because excessive bending can increase optical loss and potentially damage the fiber.

Applications

The DDS DFO-72LC is suitable for:

  • FTTH networks
  • FTTX networks
  • Fiber backbone networks
  • Data centers
  • Telecom rooms
  • ISP networks
  • Enterprise networks
  • Structured cabling systems
  • LAN / WAN networks
  • CATV networks
  • PON networks
  • OLT/ONT fiber distribution
  • Central offices
  • Fiber termination cabinets
  • Campus networks
  • Industrial communication networks

ODFs are commonly used for fiber termination, interconnection, distribution, storage, and protection in FTTH, LAN/WAN, CATV, and telecommunications infrastructure.

Installation

The DDS DFO-72LC is designed for installation in standard 19-inch equipment racks and network cabinets.

Installation Procedure
  1. Mount the ODF using the supplied rack mounting hardware.
  2. Secure the rack ears to the 19-inch rack rails.
  3. Feed the incoming fiber-optic cable through the rear cable entry.
  4. Secure the incoming cable using the cable fixation/strain-relief point.
  5. Route the fibers into the splice tray.
  6. Perform fusion splicing with the LC pigtails.
  7. Install splice protection sleeves.
  8. Organize the fibers inside the tray.
  9. Store the required fiber slack.
  10. Connect LC adapters and patch cords.
  11. Close the sliding drawer after confirming proper fiber routing.
